Sorry for being out of touch for a while… Taking a step back, working on some personal things and looking ahead is sometimes necessary and the right thing to do.Really glad on how things are moving on, but you’ll see… For now we have got a few more episodes of On The Loose. This has been broadcasted through the RBMH and is a great way to promote kiteboarding. I hope you enjoy it.

I will be back with a master plan not long from now, it wil be entertaining and lasting.

Helping disadvantaged kids in Cabarete is a cause so close to my heart. I grew up in this town and feel very linked to these children, who have high hopes of one day becoming the next Aaron Hadlow. Operation ankle completed!

The good old story of my ankle injury! Visit several doctors and physiotherapists. The last one I was going to see finally got it right, so I went in for surgery yesterday. I had an operation on this ankle 15months ago as well, but still found quite some trouble in my ankle. Because of my flatfeet the stance of my ankles is just not right and puts quite some pressure on the cartilage.

Yesterday was an interesting day for me as I could follow the surgery on a screen. I saw the doc removing a lot of scar tissue and scraping of some bone…This created more space so my ankle joint could move clearly.

Now on a good program with the physiotherapists and I’ll be back stronger than ever in a month or 3. Now focusing on lining things up for this year, music stuff and gym.

Shadowbox cuts hair

Today was a classical windy day in Cape Town, South Africa!! As I can’t ride I came up with an idea to get rid of either Lewis or Aaron’s hair. I got my shadowbox out and set-up a battle of who would jump highest today.

Nice waves and a gnarly wind were the right ingredients for some biggies!

I was getting fully sandblasted on the beach but had a blast watching them trying to survive in these gnarly conditions. It was definitely strong and all kinds of stuff went on actually, haha! Azza lost his kite in the beginning and got up to some swimming, Lew had to really step on the brakes at some point when the wind was just picking up really strong in this one long gust.

After the sesh we checked the results on the shadowbox and viewed their ride in 3D. Pretty insane tool that is! Good for measuring all kinds of data to set up any good battle. So it came out that Lewis lost the highest jump contest. Azza had 53,6ft and Lewis had 49,3ft. I’m sure they can go bigger but it was pretty harsh out there today and getting jumps of 15mtr ain’t that bad!!

It was great cutting Lewis’s hair of and get rid of those dreads! Whoooop. Whooooop!!

WONW Teaser

As you all know, the On The Loose crew spend some time in the Philippines to rock it at the Wind Or No Wind BoardJam. It was great fun and a super progressive event, as in all the riders got to ride the whole day no matter what the conditions were. The best cable park in the world was right at our hands, a boatlake which was not too good for kiting but the boys still squeezed in some sessions.

Everyone really stepped up their skills on the rails behind the cable or 2.0. I honestly can’t wait to see some of these new moves be applied to a sick kiteboarding session.

There’s been shot lots and lots of footage which will spread around the world via web and tv. So stay tuned to see some radical action from the epic event we’ve had.

Every year I spend some time in the Gorge to hang out with the Slingshot family and this was the second year I met Eli. He’s only two years old and the son of Heidi and Slingshot’s kite/board designer Tony Logosz.

It was very inspiring to see how much energy he puts into things that he likes. Tony gives him room to express and experience his talents from a young age. That’s rad!! J As you can see he’s got quite some feel for rocking out, can’t wait to see him grow and hang out with him to see how he gets the feel for snowboarding, kiteboarding, skateboarding etc.

True rockstar this man!! Watch it…
